Time: 10:30 to 11:30 AM
Join HAP partners and community members for the second Accessibility Sub-Committee meeting on Thursday, Feb. 18th at 10:30AM at the CHS Building (204 19th St) in downtown Jasper. Please RSVP by emailing Elyse at email@example.com.
The goal of the Accessibility Sub-Committee is to develop a plan to incorporate ADA and universal design principles into the newly proposed, non-motorized, multi-use trail at Walker Co. Lake. As of part of the Walker County Lake Master Plan, an expanded trail system has been proposed. The Health Action Partnership’s Livable Communities Priority Group has received a $5,000 grant from Cawaco RC&D to support the non motorized, multi-use trail expansion. A group of volunteers have already GPS/flagged out a potential route and Livable Communities partners have been working with the Dept. of Conservation & Natural Resources (DCNR) to make sure the trail layout includes portions that are ADA compliant before trail construction. ADA compliance is a top priority in the Alabama 2013 SCORP.
